No Kinect in Gears 3

16 Nov

We can all now breath a collective sigh of relief. As the rumors of Kinect integration in Gears of War 3 are quashed by CliffyB himself.

Now I’m all for Kinect being used for causal and family games but keep it as far away as humanly possible from the hardcore games. Want to ruin the success of an awesome mature game series? Add Kinect or PS Move to it. That will drive your sales right down the tubes.

According to our tip, Microsoft is using the Spike TV Video Games Awards (VGAs) to introduce some big action games, including new titles for the Kinect. The headliner is Gears of War for Kinect, coming straight from Epic Games. Now, we cannot clarify whether or not this is an all-new Gears of War for Kinect or if it’s an existing Gears of War game, retro-fitted for the camera controller. But it definitely clicks with recent rumblings that Microsoft wants to get in front of the conventional wisdom that the Kinect is only a toy for casual gamers and family.

I know that Microsoft wants to boost sales but please don’t shove it down the throats of hardcore gamers. I know you think they want it, but they really don’t. They really really don’t. Keep the casual Kinect ready games separate from the hardcore M-rated games and we can all be happy under one console. That’s all I, and many other gamers, want.

Even with Dude Huge announcing this, I still have a feeling some sort of bullshit Gears connection to Kinect is coming, and coming soon(ish). Maybe not GeOW3, but somethin’.

Yea rumor is it might be some totally separate Gears game with Kinect. I really thing that would be a bad decision on their part. But who knows :/
